Join us through social media and other online special events for Inland Sea by Allyson Packer. Inland Sea refers to New Mexico’s geological history and the time in which the desert was a marine environment.  Packer explores urban spaces through photography and digitally removes elements from the documented photographs to allow the viewer to question and envision uninterrupted urban landscape.

Special events related to the exhibit include:

  • Artist Talk by Allyson Packer, August 7, 2020, 5:30-6:30pm on the Las Cruces Museums Facebook Page through Facebook Live. The homepage can be found at https://www.facebook.com/LCMuseums/
  • Gardening with Native Plants, August 12, 5:30-6:30pm on the Las Cruces Museums Facebook Page through Facebook Live. Join us to learn about the best native plants for xeriscaping gardens in the Southwest and how to combine them to build a harmonious space that represents your style and works with our soil, moisture, and sunshine in the Southwest!   • Celebrate September with Creativity! Register for one or both of these activity kits that explore the many aspects of this exhibit. Supplies are limited, so register by Wednesday, September 2, 2020 by emailing Kayla Myers at kmyers@las-cruces.org. Pick-up details will be provided upon registration. Pursuant to state health guidelines, social distancing measures will be in place and mask-wearing is highly encouraged.
    • A kit with the supplies to make your own layered artwork using different textures of paper and pictures of landscapes in New Mexico. This kit is for all ages.
    • A kit with a crystal from New Mexico’s landscape and prompts on how to write your own “Story of a Rock”. This kit is for elementary to middle school aged learners.
