Kitty Glitter jewelry sale, fundraiser is Oct. 8-10

The annual Kitty Glitter Jewelry Sale will be held Friday through Sunday, Oct. 8-10, at the Griggs & Reymond Event House, 504 West Griggs Ave.

Kitty Glitter is hosted by Project Save A Kitten, a local group of dedicated women that puts on two events, Kitty Glitter and Caroling for Kitties, to benefit local nonprofit animal rescues dedicated to spaying/neutering, rescuing and finding good homes for cats and kittens.

Past beneficiaries of funds raised during Kitty Glitter have included Cat’s Meow, Broken Promises SW, cat-specific programs at other nonprofit animal welfare groups in Doña Ana County and individuals who are working with a nonprofit to help cats.

The 2021 event begins with a pre-sale (first shot at buying the jewelry) from  5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8. A $10 donation is requested at the door. Refreshments are provided by Better Life Pet Foods. Artist Paula Voris donates the venue.

The regular sale is 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 9. No donation is requested to attend, but donations are accepted.

From 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, is an event Kitty Glitter organizers are calling a “beader’s delight.” Less-than-perfect jewelry pieces will be discounted so that creatives can purchase them to rip apart and make new and beautiful items.

Kitty Glitter features thousands of gently used pieces of jewelry for sale at great prices — quirky and artistic creations, fun costume finds, “good stuff” and everything in between, Kitty Glitter said in a news release. Most prices run from $1 to $30, and although the “good stuff” is more than that, it’s still priced to sell, the news release said.

Face coverings will be required during the event and the number of visitors at the event will be monitored to ensure social distancing. Hand sanitizer will be available at multiple locations throughout the event.
