L. Grant Rogers, 78

Mr. L. Grant Rogers passed away on the 25th of January 2024, at the age of 78 after a deterioration of his health and is now with his parents in heaven. He is survived by his sister Ms. Lea Rae Rogers Hugo of El Paso, TX, brother Mr. Bruce F. Ruble of Ingram, TX, as well as six nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews, and three grand nieces and nephews.

The kids who grew up in Organ, NM during the 60’s and 70’s enjoyed coming to Grant’s store, Organ General Store, to watch the popular show, Star Trek. He was a shrewd but fair businessman in his store of over 40 years and at Big Daddy’s Flea Market where he could be considered a fixture every weekend until his failing health.

He was a graduate of Las Cruces High School in 1965. Go Bulldogs! There he was a State Champion in wrestling. At Las Cruces High School, he took distributive education where he learned most of his business experience. After graduating high school, he went to work at Weinrich Buick and Pontiac, as a certified mechanic, until starting his own business where he owned and operator of Roger’s Auto Parts and then the Organ General Store.

A memorial service will be held at the Organ Community Church and interment of his ashes at the Slumbering Mountain Cemetery in Organ at a later date. He will be missed by all who knew him.
