LAS CRUCES MUSEUM SYSTEM

Las Cruces Museum System Reopens for Reservations

Posted

The Las Cruces Museum System announces plan to reopen to the public after being closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic response and public health orders.  On Wednesday, September 2, the museum will accept patrons on a reservation-only basis. To ensure the health and safety of staff and guests, the LCMS has implemented new temporary procedures for visiting the museums.

In order to comply with the latest public health order, the museums will open Wednesday, September 2 through Saturday, October 3, accepting limited reservations to ensure the number of individuals in the museum at any given time meets with the requirements of the Governor’s latest directives.  If you would like to reserve your time to tour one of the museums, please call 575.522.3120 or 575.528.3330 or email education@las-cruces.org to schedule your visit. Guests with COVID-19 symptoms or who are sick will not be permitted to enter. Guests are required to follow health guidelines by wearing a mask over nose and mouth, maintaining a distance of at least six feet from others at all times, and refrain from touching items or exhibits.

“We know everyone’s mental health and cultural isolation has been challenging and we want to make sure the museum can safely return operations to a level that help reengage our community in the art and culture that flourishes in our area,” said museum administrator Dr. Jennifer Robles.

Guests with confirmed reservations should arrive  5 minutes before their scheduled time.   Guests arriving later than 10 minutes after their scheduled time will be asked to reschedule their visit to respect the reservations of other patrons. Groups of more than 10 people will be asked to break into smaller groups to schedule visits to different areas of the museums.

The Las Cruces Museum System is not conducting group tours at this time. Please call 575.528.3330 or email education@las-cruces.org for the latest information on tours. If you are not able to visit in person, you can still enjoy fun and educational exhibition information and programming activities on our website or social media @lcmuseums.

Hand sanitizing stations are located near restrooms and front desks. Disposable masks will be provided to visitors who have forgotten their own at home (limit one per person).
