Las Cruces Ukes has February concerts

Las Cruces Ukes is celebrating For the Love of Art Month with two free concerts:

• 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Good Samaritan Village social center auditorium, 3011 Buena Vida Circle; and
• 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St. downtown.

In addition to having free weekly Strum for Fun sessions and performance group practices, Las Cruces Ukes, a nonprofit community group of ukulele enthusiasts, will host the annual Las Cruces UkeFest, May 19-21 at Doña Ana Community College East Mesa campus. The festival will feature talented instructor/performers from New Mexico, like Heidi Swedberg and Daniel Ward, and includes a Friday night concert, workshops, a jam session, open mic opportunities and a ukulele marketplace.
