LCCT plans ambitious, diverse 58th season

With “Harvey,” starring Bob Diven, set to perform in June as Las Cruces Community Theatre’s final show of the current season, LCCT has announced its 2020-21 season.

LCCT’s 58^th season will include these productions:

• “Gypsy,” Stephen Sondheim, Jule Styne and Arthur Laurents , directed by Constance Hasapopoulos; Aug. 14-30;
• “Stage Kiss,” Sarah Ruhl, directed by Brandon Brown; Oct. 2-18;
• “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical,” by Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly, directed by Cindy Pitts; Dec. 4-20;
• “Three Tall Women,” by Edward Albee, directed by Michael Wise; Jan. 29-Feb. 14, 2021;
• One Act Play Festival, featuring plays by local playwrights; March 12-14;
• “Little Miss Sunshine: The Musical,” by James Lapine and William Finn, directed by Janet Beatty-Payne; April 23-May 9;
• “The Little Dog Laughed,” by Douglas Carter Beane, directed by Norman Lewis; June 4-20

"All of us at LCCT are super excited about our lineup for next season,” said LCCT Board President Beatty-Payne, who has directed and starred in some of the theatre’s most popular shows.

“Kicking it off with the classic musical ‘Gypsy’ will set a solid foundation for the rest of our fantastic season, which includes three musicals and three plays, spearheaded by three female directors and three male directors, with our One Act Play Festival to highlight original local playwrights sandwiched in between,” Beatty-Payne said.

“From ‘Stage Kiss,’ a romantic comedy; to ‘Matilda the Musical,’ based on the popular children's story by Roald Dahl, which will provide opportunities for so many incredibly talented kids to take the stage during our holiday/family slot; to ‘Little Miss Sunshine the Musical,’ based on the 2006 Academy Award-nominated film with music by William Finn, who wrote the music for ‘25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,’ and book by James Lapin, who wrote the book for ‘Into the Woods,’ then capped off with the comedy ‘The Little Dog Laughed,’ which was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play in 2007, LCCT certainly has something for every theatre lover!"

How to get tickets

Now through April 19, LCCT subscribers will have the option of renewing their subscriptions online at lcctnm.org. They will have the first chance to choose their seats for the upcoming 58th season, Then, from April 20-July 31, subscriptions and six-seat passes will be available at a 20 percent discount. Beginning Aug. 1, subscriptions and six-seat passes will be available at a 10 percent discount. Single tickets will go on sale for all shows at lcctnm.org.
