LCPS hold in-person grad ceremonies

Posted

The Class of 2021 wrapped up their senior years with in-person graduation ceremonies and hand-delivered diplomas – a first since the pandemic forced Las Cruces Public Schools to host drive-thru graduation ceremonies last year.
All six LCPS high schools had graduation ceremonies at the Field of Dreams May 21-22.

It also marked the last graduating class for Oñate High School. As of July 1, the school will be known as Organ Mountain High School.

Each graduate was allowed 16 tickets for family and friends, and attendees were required to wear a mask throughout the ceremony.

For the first time in district history, seniors were allowed to decorate their caps and each graduate received a face mask honoring the late Superintendent Dr. Karen Trujillo who was struck by a car and killed earlier this year.
