The New Mexico Legislative Session opened Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Despite a lot of new legislators, and despite much of the session being held remotely via computer links, the work of the people will go on.
One way to keep track of things is with the Las Cruces Bulletin’s annual Southwest New Mexico Legislative Guide. You can check it out now via this link: 2021 Southwest New Mexico Legislative Guide.
The guide is a great way to familiarize yourself with all the new legislators, as well as stay in tune with the ones who retained their seats.
This year, the Bulletin is part of the Southern New Mexico Journalism Collaborative. The Collaborative, funded by the New Mexico Local News Fund, has brought in a capital correspondent to cover this year’s session. He is Walt Rubel, a longtime New Mexico journalist who has covered state politics for many years, including a stint in the mid-2000s as a Santa Fe-based writer. You may have seen his freelance columns in the Bulletin, and expect to see his capital coverage in our news pages and on our digital platforms.
The Bulletin will help you follow the session with our legislative guide, our website, our eBulletin, our regular legislative reports and interviews with lawmakers and officials, we will keep you posted on the activity of this year’s 60-day session.
