Lescombes supports Dress the Child program

Posted

Las Cruces Dress the Child program coordinator Doug Boberg, left, was at Lescombes Family Vineyards a few days before Christmas to thank General Manager Thomas Perez, center, and Executive Chef Kevin Chavez for Lescombes’ long-time support of Dress the Child. The program could not hold a fundraising dinner in either 2020 or 2021 because of the pandemic, so Lescombes donated a dinner for eight, which Boberg raffled off among table hosts from previous years’ dinners. The winner was Mynatt Martínez Springer P.C. law firm of Las Cruces. The raffle raised $3,500. Dress the Child dressed 99 economically deprived students from the Gadsden Independent School District and 20 from Las Cruces Public Schools during shopping events earlier this month, Boberg said. It expects to dress an additional 100 LCPS students in early 2022. Each participating child receives $130 to $150 in new clothes and shoes in Dress the Child’s partnership with local merchants. Send donation checks to Dress the Child, P.O. Box 550, Las Cruces, N.M. 88004, or take them to Julie Koenig, First New Mexico Bank, 3000 E. Lohman Ave. in Las Cruces. Contact Boberg at 575-644-9469 or drboberg@gmail.com.
