Posted

The Little Shop on Main has opened at 275 N. Main St. in downtown Las Cruces.

The store is “the ultimate one-stop shop,” said owner/operator Patricia Jimenez, with “a little bit of everything” in the nearly 1,000 square-foot storefront.

Inside The Little Shop on Main, you will find handmade furniture, footwear (including double-soled urban moccasins); fetishes, sage dolls, smudges sculptures, carved smoking pipes, tomahawks and dreamcatchers from Taos Pueblo; designer jewelry made by Jimenez and other artists, including earrings, bracelets, pins and colorful friendship bracelets; unique toys for pets; crosses made by Taos minister Pablo Flores, including a “man-cave cross;” Zia symbol magnets; a vase and sculptures from Nambe Pueblo; thermoses that keep drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours; small Justin Bieber and Andy Warhol dolls; kitchen towels; Star Wars figures; angel figures; handwoven scarves and shawls, jeans from Los Angeles and tee shirts; artwork; lamps (and painted jeans) by Taos artist Patience Heyl that have original artwork on their shades and will even charge a phone; a real bison skull; and a Brazilian bull  hide.

Beginning in February, Jimenez will be a retail partner with Pendleton (bedding/linens and housewares), Old Gringo Boots and Magnolia Pearl (clothing).

The store also has band aids, lotion, shower steamers, ice cream and cold drinks.

“It’s 99 percent eclectic and unique,” Jimenez said.

A native of Ventura, California, Jimenez lived in New York City for more than 20 years and has visited 30 U.S. states and traveled around the world.

She first opened Little Shop on Main as a “holiday popup” on north Main Street, but then moved to Taos for a year.

“I knew I wanted to be back here,” said Jimenez, who was delighted to get the property at the corner of Main Street and Las Cruces Avenue, with support from Downtown Las Cruces Partnership Executive Director Jennifer L. Garcia Kozlowski and Mayor Pro Tempore Kasandra Gandara.

“It’s a gold-mine location,” she said.

The Little Shop on Main is open 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 7:30-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

When you visit, say hello to Cookie (a live cat) and Billy (the Roswell alien figure in the front window).
