Livingston rebrands and opens a new store

For more than 5 years, Roxanne Livingston ran two small businesses in Las Cruces with separate names, separate websites and separate contact information. Maintaining it all was exhausting.

Livingston began her event-planning company, Elegant Events, more than 11 years ago and began working at Renee’s Bridal in 2009 while finishing her master’s degree in business.

In late 2019, while driving home from work one afternoon, it occurred to her that she didn’t have to lead such a splintered life, so she came up with a single name and put into motion the process to roll both the old businesses into one entity: Livingston Bridal & Events.

Although her company van still carries the badging of one of the old businesses – Renee’s Bridal – she’s in the process of getting that rectified. Setting aside the second old business – Elegant Events – was easier.

To make sure the change to Livingston Bridal & Events was a legitimate new start with a new look, feel and brand, she pulled up roots from her old location and leased a new storefront at 1680 Calle de Alvarez, Suite D, just east of the gateway to Mesilla.

Livingston Bridal & Events is a more focused business, she said, specializing in apparel, alterations, accessories, rentals, event planning – especially weddings – and gifts.

“My husband, Levi, my team and I really took a look at what we enjoy doing and what we’re best at doing, and that’s where we’ve put our efforts,” she said.

Livingston’s team includes Senior Bridal Consultant Kayla Zimmerman, Senior Event Planner Adriana Rosencrans, Marketing and Social Media Coordinator Lucy Rubio, Event Planner Katelin Frybarger and Bridal Consultant Kylie Daugherty. Livingston’s Boxer, Dre, makes occasional appearances when the showroom isn’t busy.

Converting a former doctor’s office to a showroom and place of business was one challenge she faced upon locating the new space, but by making subtle and – in other cases, major – alterations here and there, she’s created a functional and attractive store that features a wide variety of gowns and goods that reflect the business model she’s cultivated through the years into the new space, fitting the new name.

There also are changing rooms, ample storage and great lighting throughout.

“I was a little nervous at first, but the front area with its existing lighting sold me on the space, and we’ve made everything else work out better than I probably expected,” she said.

Livingston Bridal & Events is open by appointment only. The store can be reached at 575-521-0872, by email at sales@livingstonbridalandevents.com or on the web at LivingstonBridalAndEvents.com.
