Several equestrians who are students at Red Sky Farm in Las Cruces won top prizes at the April 24 Carlsbad Horseman's Association Spring Show in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Red Sky Farm owner and trainer Susie Ouderkirk said in a news release.

Junior riders Jordyn Sanchez, Reagan Warren and Katlin Ohle won first place in hunter under saddle, hunter over fences and equitation classes, Ouderkirk said.

Jordyn, 8, rode her own thoroughbred gelding, Kangaroo, to wins in the walk/trot division. Regan, 14, rode Red Sky Farm's Juniper Rain, a thoroughbred mare, to top finishes in the Level 1 hunter and equitation division, finishing the day with a high-point reserve championship. Katlin, 15, on her own thoroughbred mare, Happy Go Lucky, won the junior high-point award with several first-place finishes, Ouderkirk said.

Riders Bethany Skattum, Lauren Meske and Ashley Leigh competed at the show, winning prizes and championships in the adult divisions, Ouderkirk said. Skattum, who rides her own thoroughbred gelding, Finn, finished as the reserve champion adult rider, and Meske, on Red Sky Farm’s Devil's Chocolate, won the champion adult rider award. Leigh rode Jordyn Sanchez’s Kangaroo to high finishes in the Level 1 division.

The horses and riders traveled from Las Cruces to the Carlsbad show facility for the weekend, which also included a riding clinic, Ouderkirk said.

The riders and horses are all Ouderkirk’s students at Red Sky Farm, which she said is Las Cruces’ only hunter/jumper training facility.
