Local Knights of Columbus council donates $5,000 to Turning Point

Knights of Columbus, Robert G. Gamboa Council 9527 of Las Cruces donated $5,000 to Turning Point of Las Cruces during a presentation held Feb. 20 at Holy Cross Church.

Turning Point, a nonprofit that provides information and assistance with planned and unplanned pregnancies, is renovating a property at 705 N. Main St. that was donated last fall by the Rawson Family Foundation.

The new location will be significantly larger than Turning Point’s current facility on South Main Street.

Council 9527, based out of Holy Cross Church, “has been a strong supporter in the past for Turning Point,” said council treasurer Brian Noon.

“Several years ago, the council held fundraisers to purchase Turning Point's second ultrasound machine,” he said. To support the move to the new location and to help defray the costs of the move and the infrastructure costs, the council raffled off a 70-inch Samsung TV on Super Bowl Sunday which netted the $5,000 that was donated Feb. 20.
