MountainView Regional Medical Center (MVRMC) has named Matthew Conrad as chief executive officer effective Sept. 20, MVRMC said in a news release. Conrad has served as interim CEO since mid-July, MVRMC said.
“MVRMC has proudly served the community of Las Cruces and surrounding areas for nearly 20 years,” Conrad said. “I am excited to continue that commitment and to work closely with our board of trustees, physicians, employees and volunteers to provide quality care, exceptional patient experiences and strong employee engagement.”
Conrad was assistant CEO at Carolinas Hospital Systems in South Carolina 2013-17. In 2017, he was named chief operating officer at Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Florida. Conrad moved to Abilene, Texas in 2019 as COO for Abilene Regional Medical Center before coming to Las Cruces as MVRMC COO in late 2020. In those roles, he supported caregivers in their efforts to enhance patient satisfaction, played a key role in the growth of employed physician practices and hospital service lines, and oversaw renovation and expansion projects, the news release said.
“Matthew’s leadership will undoubtedly take MVRMC to the next level,” said MVRMC Chairman Joe Bullock. “He interacts well with all employees and physicians and is known for being pragmatic and fair. On behalf of the entire board, we are excited to begin working with him in his new role.”
Born in Frankfort, Kentucky and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Conrad obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Darla Moore School of Business and a master of health administration from Medical University of South Carolina. He is a member of the board for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.
