Movie, TV producer/director to film Las Cruces dog rescue

The nonprofit animal welfare organization BARKHOUSE, (formally Uncaged Paws, formed in 2010), is welcoming a television and film producer to Las Cruces to document BARKHOUSE’s foster network to transport dogs and cats to their forever homes.

Today Productions of Naperville, Illinois television and film producer, director and editor Gaetan Charest will arrive in Las Cruces Saturday, Oct. 10, “to capture the united efforts of the BARKHOUSE team that logistically designs and implements a transport system for dogs and cats to be flown to their FURever homes,” BARKHOUSE said in a news release. “These are animals assisted by the BARKHOUSE foster network who socialize and care for these pets until the time of their transport. These are animals that might otherwise have been euthanized in Las Cruces if they have not been transported to an area of the United States where there is a pet shortage.”

Charest has produced, directed and or edited more than 400 documentaries, BARKHOUSE said in the news release. He is the producer/co-host of “The Dog Connection Show,” a weekly multi-streamed live broadcast over social media reaching more than five million people monthly; co-creator of the First Internet TV Network (1997); and has been a film producer for IMAX films since 2003.

BARKHOUSE founder Kelly Barker and Managing Director Koko Dean have arranged for Gaetan to film behind the scenes with Pilot Julian Javor, owner of Pet Rescue Pilots (www.petrescuepilots.org), as he flies mother dogs and puppies from Las Cruces International Airport at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, to Rancho Santa Fe, California, where Helen Woodward Animal Center (https://animalcenter.org/) will receive the dogs, many of which have already been marked for adoption.

Gaetan “believes dogs play an important part in everyone’s lives, especially those in need of a dog’s help,” the news release said. The dogs’ “freedom flight” journey will be shared worldwide as it is presented to major television and cable production companies for broadcasting.
