Navajo rug auction also features evaluations

Posted

The popular Navajo Rug Auction fundraiser, presented by the Foundation for Las Cruces Museums, is making its comeback this fall at noon on Saturday, Nov. 13, in the Center for Spiritual Living at 575 North Main Street in Downtown Las Cruces.

The Foundation receives a percentage of all sales to help it support the programs of the four Las Cruces City Museums.

There will be a evening session from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12 for informal appraisals of Native American items (no paintings or kachinas) for a fee of  $10 dollars per item. Native-made jewelry will also be available for sale during the session.

The preview of the rugs and other items to be auctioned will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, and bidding will begin at 12 p.m. Entry is free and open to the public.

For more information on the auction or to contact the Foundation for Las Cruces Museums, please go to the group’s website at https://foundationlcm.com/.
