Toke It Up, a new cannabis dispensary coming to Sunland Park, will have its grand opening Saturday, September 27, 2025.
The dispensary, at 1999 Futurity Dr. #A, prides itself on the fact that it is more than a dispensary. Ric Zimmerman, co-owner, told the Bulletin that Toke It Up will give a $1,000 check on Saturday to Casa de Peregrinos, a food bank in Las Cruces.
Zimmerman said he intends for this to be only the beginning of Toke It Up making donations toward food insecurity. He said the issue is close to his heart because he used to work in child and adult protective services in Texas.
“What is more basic than having food to eat? It doesn’t get more basic than that,” he said.
Lorenzo Alba, executive director of Casa de Peregrinos, said the nonprofit organization is "blessed when new businesses join us at CdP in our mission. We're grateful to our new friends at Toke It Up in Sunland Park for their support of our work.
"The timing is impeccable, especially since we will soon begin construction on our new state of the art facility in Sunland Park. Thank you Toke It Up!" Alba said.
Zimmerman said he and his partners are hoping to turn the 1,750 square foot building into a consumption lounge with outdoor events and music.
“We want our customers to tell us what they want,” Zimmerman said.
The store contains concentrates, vapes, flowers and pre-roll. Zimmerman said the company wants to be “customer focused.”
He said the company is employing seven people. That includes a manager and six bud tenders who provide customer service.
Zimmerman said Toke It Up is also interested in trying to connect with local cannabis growers to sell their products.
