LAS CRUCES, N.M. – It all comes down to this. Three games between the NM State baseball team and Utah Valley with the eighth and final bid to the WAC Baseball Tournament on the line. Whoever wins the series, heads to Mesa next week to keep the season alive.  
 
AGGIE FACTS 

  • NM State is coming off its fourth loss of the year to New Mexico. 
  • All four NM State runs in Sunday's finale with No. 25 Grand Canyon came via the long ball. Brandon DieterNolan Funke, and Tommy Tabak all homered in the contest.
  • Tabak's home run came in his final at-bat inside Presley Askew Field.
  • NM State recognized four seniors before Sunday's game – Tabak, Brendon RodriguezFrank Dickson IV, and Lyle Hibbitts.
  • Several Aggies are within striking distance of top-ten single-season records. Kevin Jimenez (doubles), Logan Gallina (home runs), and Ian Mejia (strikeouts) could all find their ways into the record book before the season is complete.
  • Alex Bustamante is already tied for 10th place on the NM State single-season saves list with five. 
  • Mejia and Sammy Natera will get the start for NM State in the first two games of the series. Sunday's starter is yet to be announced. 
  • The Aggies will need to win two of three against Utah Valley to qualify for the WAC Baseball Tournament. 

 
ABOUT THE WOLVERINES 

  • This will be the first time NM State squares off with Utah Valley in 2022.  
  • Utah Valley just wrapped up a nine-game road trip, going 2-7.  
  • The Wolverines hold a one-game lead over NM State as the final week of action begins. Nonetheless, Utah Valley needs to win the series to advance to the WAC Baseball Tournament. 
  • On Tuesday, the Utah Valley pitching staff strung together its first shutout since March 7, 2020. 
  • All three games will be streamed on ESPN+ with the action beginning Friday at 6:05 p.m. MT.
