OREM, Utah – And that’s a wrap on the regular season. The NM State finished their 52nd and final regular season contest with a 10-8 loss at Utah Valley. As focus shifts to the WAC Baseball Tournament in Mesa, the Aggies will be the fourth seed from the west division.

NM State struck first in the second inning when AJ Garcia doubled down the right field line to score Cal Villareal. Utah Valley responded with a run in the second and two more in the third to take a 3-1 lead.

In the fifth inning, the Aggies struck for a pair and tied the game. After a double from Kevin Jimenez, Edwin Martinez-Pagani plated a run with a double of his own. Cal Villareal score Martinez-Pagani when he bounced out to the second baseman.

Utah Valley sprinkled four runs between the fifth and sixth innings to break the game open. Trailing 7-3 in the eighth inning, Preston Godfrey singled through the right side, scoring Villareal. Utah Valley pushed three more runs across in the bottom of the eighth to take a six-run lead.

Much like they did on Thursday, the Aggies looked to pull off a miracle comeback. With the bases loaded, Tommy Tabak ripped a double to plate two runs. On the following pitch, Martinez-Pagani scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, a run scored on a double play to bring NM State back within two. That’s the closest the Aggies would get though as a strikeout ended the contest.
