NMSU Dining Services debuts new campus dining option, The Stache food cart

Posted

New Mexico State University students, staff and faculty looking for a quick bite to eat on the Las Cruces campus will now only have to look for the crimson and white mustache on wheels for an easy new dining option.

On Friday, NMSU Dining Services will celebrate the soft opening of The Stache food cart, which will offer burritos, snacks, drinks and more, as well as event catering. In order to find The Stache, users can download the Where’s the Foodtruck phone app to track it down on campus. The Stache, featuring a crimson mustache on wheels logo, will travel around campus throughout the day.

“The Stache is actually coming to fruition in response to a longtime wish of our campus community to have a food truck on campus,” said Candice Nanco, director of marketing for NMSU Dining Services. “Our general manager, Dwayne Wisniewski, found the food cart and was able to bring it to campus.”

Nanco said a “bus stop” schedule for The Stache will be published soon. Exact hours of operation have not yet been determined, but the food cart allows for a new dining option for locations around campus that don’t currently offer food, and will also feature a rotating menu.

“The Stache also offers convenience and versatility,” Nanco said. “The Stache can be utilized for customized catering at events and provide an additional offering at events with concessions.”

NMSU Dining Services will continue to implement their four-step cleaning and safety procedures at all locations around campus. Procedures include staff training on CDC, state and NMSU COVID-19 cleaning and safety guidelines; daily health screenings and use of protective equipment such as face masks and shields; sanitizing all touch surfaces every 20 minutes and monitoring social distancing; and touchless cashiering. All food and drinks are offered with full service and to-go only.
