Students enrolled in the class, taught by Dr. Soum Sanogo, are part of a public outreach event NMSU has held for many years. In 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be online.
“Participants will need to send their photos to me by email,” Sanogo said. “On the day of the event, I will send them the Zoom link so they can join in and have their cases analyzed by the students.”
The virtual event will be 1:30-5:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30. To participate, email Sanogo at ssanogo@nmsu.edu.
“This event provides the students with the opportunity to practice what they have learned in class and serve the community,” Sanogo said.
The event is free and open to the public.
Participating students will be assisted in their plant evaluations and diagnoses by Sanogo, who is a professor of fungal plant pathology, along with NMSU Cooperative Extension Service Entomologist Carol Sutherland, Extension Weed Specialist Leslie Beck, NMSU Plant Diagnostic Clinic manager and diagnostician Phillip Lujan and Geno Picchioni, NMSU professor of horticulture with expertise in plant mineral nutrition.
