NMSU men’s hoops to play in ESPN event in South Carolina

Posted

The New Mexico State University men’s basketball team will make a trip to South Carolina in November to play in a tournament put on by ESPN.

The Aggies are one of eight teams that will play in this year’s Myrtle Beach Invitational on Nov. 18-20 at the HTC Center in Conway, South Carolina.

Joining the Aggies in South Carolina will be: Davidson, the alma mater of Steph Curry; East Carolina; Indiana State, where Larry Bird starred as a college player; Oklahoma of the Big 12; Old Dominion; Penn; and Utah State.

The event is put on by ESPN Events, a division of ESPN, which owns and operates a portfolio of 34 college sporting events. These include five early-season college football games, 17 college bowl games, 11 college basketball events and a college softball event.

Of the seven other teams playing in this year’s Myrtle Beach Invitational, NMSU has played four of them previously.

The Aggies have played Davidson (0-1 all-time), Indiana State (7-7 all-time), Oklahoma (0-1 all-time) and Utah State (30-36 all-time).

Ticket information for the tournament will be announced later this summer.
