AMERICAN IDOL DZAKI SUKARNO

NMSU student earns ‘Golden Ticket’ to ‘American Idol’

“My name is Dzaki Sukarno. I’m 20 years old and I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I work in the green chile industry.”

That’s what a Las Cruces farmer and New Mexico State University student (he’s studying ag business) said in a You Tube recording of his audition for “American Idol.’

According to numerous online sources, Sukarno, a 20-year-old student at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, earned a Golden Ticket to perform on the show, as all three judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, gave the thumbs up after Sukarno sang a cover of Kane Brown’s “Good As You,” accompanying himself on the guitar.

“His talents got my head swimming,” Bryan said of Sukarno.
