Posted

New Mexico State University’s women’s volleyball and women’s soccer teams both carry winning streaks into this weekend’s competition in Las Cruces.

NMSU opens its home volleyball season this weekend with matches against UC Santa Barbara 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, and 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Pan American Center. The 5-1 Aggies return to Las Cruces after winning three straight matches in Davidson, North Carolina, at the Davidson Classic.

The 2-2-1 Aggie women’s soccer team hosts Nevada in a 7 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 9, at the NM State Soccer Athletic Complex. They’ll be seeking their third straight home victory after a pair of 3-0 victories last week, defeating UTEP Sept. 1 and Portland State Sept. 3. The Aggies begin WAC play Sept. 16 at home against Utah Valley. Aggie goalie Makenna Gottschalk earned WAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, after recording five saves in back-to-back shutout victories.
