A residence off of Sonoma Ranch Blvd. north of Highway 70 was damaged by a fire Tuesday afternoon, and a firefighter sustained a minor injury fighting the blaze.
The Las Cruces Fire Department responded to the 3900 block of Crystal Place at about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 26. The firefighters arrived to find an active fire on the back porch that had spread to the home’s attic, according to a news release.
The fire was extinguished after about 20 minutes, during which firefighters rescued two cats while searching the home. The LCFD said at least two residents, along with their pets, were displaced.
A damage estimate was not available as of Wednesday night, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
