Starting this week, Las Cruces Public Schools will offer breakfast and lunch distribution and technology support Monday through Thursday, with Friday meals available for pick-up on Thursday. The shift will alleviate unnecessary staffing in district buildings on Fridays to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Following last month’s state shutdown of all school buildings, LCPS has maintained meal distribution at 19 school sites to ensure students are fed while not physically in school. Daily averages of meals prepared by school staff continue to top more than 10,000 with that number tripling on April 9. According to district officials, some bus routes that are now delivering meals experienced food shortages, but meal counts were adjusted to meet the needs of those neighborhoods.
In accordance with state and federal guidelines, all meals are prepared grab-and-go style to reduce the risk of exposure to coronavirus. Breakfast and lunch are available simultaneously between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the following locations through the end of the school year:
Families who need assistance with district-owned devices or password resets can access Technology Support Services (TSS) Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the following locations:
TSS staff suggests families choose a school location nearest them in the event an issue must be resolved in person. Emailed requests can be sent to servicedesk@lcps.net.
