Ortho clinic folds amid COVID-19

Posted

While medical professionals are being hailed as frontline heroes in the battle against the COVID-19 virus, at least one Las Cruces medical facility is shutting down in the throes of the pandemic

Las Cruces Orthopaedic Associates announced Monday, May 4, that it will shut its doors for the last time on Monday, May 11, and its patient files will be turned over to a Las Cruces records-management firm for safekeeping.

The four physicians who collectively ran the business – Doctors Michael McGuire, Paul Saiz, Nicholas Scarcella and Yvonne Muojieje – will move their practices elsewhere.

“Rest assured that we will still be able to continue to provide the same level of orthopedic care that you’re familiar with, though not without some changes,” a news release stated. “We will be making temporary accommodations to ensure follow-up care is uninterrupted and any new issues can be addressed promptly. We expect more permanent accommodations to be finalized in the future.”

The release stated that patient records will be available at American Document Services, 300 N 17th St., in Las Cruces, 575-647-0060
