Patriot Day Ceremony Postponed for 2020

Posted

The City of Las Cruces’ Patriot Day Ceremony that commemorates the anniversary of 9/11 has been postponed for 2020 because of the public health emergency.

The 2020 ceremony would have commemorated the 19-year anniversary of the tragic events that unfolded Sept. 11, 2001, in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The City of Las Cruces and New Mexico State University memorialized the 18-year anniversary of 9/11 in 2019 with a Patriot Day Ceremony held on campus.

The Las Cruces police and fire departments remind residents to continue practicing social distancing and wear face coverings when in public areas to help avoid the spread of coronavirus.
