Agave Artist Gallery’s artist of the month for May 2023 is Paul Maxwell, the gallery said in a news release.
Maxwell “crafts his fine art paintings in his studios in Las Cruces and Alto,” the gallery said. “He focuses on landscapes and local subjects of the Southwest.”
Maxwell toured various countries in Asia and western Europe in 2013 and studied at the Florence Academe de Arte in Florence, Italy, the news release said. He continues to refine his craft by taking workshops from local artists Ron Fritsch and Marie Siegrist.
Maxwell’s art shows in galleries in Las Cruces, Alto, Ruidoso and El Paso, Agave Gallery said.
Maxwell will participate in the Picacho Hills Art in the Garden Show, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in Picacho Hills.
Maxwell will present a pet-portrait painting demonstration 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Agave Gallery, 2250 Calle de San Albino in Mesilla. Attendees may watch, ask questions and/or try creating a portrait of their own. Attendees should bring a canvas, easel, oil or acrylic paint, brushes, etc. if they wish to paint, the gallery said.
