P.E.O. CHAPTER 1

P.E.O. chapter shares in ‘year of giving’

Posted

In early March, members of P.E.O. Chapter I in Las Cruces worked with the Salvation Army of Las Cruces to donate family food boxes as part of the P.E.O. chapter’s “Year of Giving.” 38 chapter members participated, and those who were unable to pack a box contributed funds to purchase additional food.

25 large boxes of food for families in need were loaded into a Salvation Army truck March 26 for delivery, and two boxes of excess items were earmarked for the Salvation Army food pantry.

Cartons were fully packed with non-perishable items such as cereal, bags of rice and beans, pasta, fruit cups, peanut butter and cans of meat, tuna and vegetables. In addition, the P.E.O. sisters made goodie bags filled with healthy snacks for each box.

Captain Noel Evans of the Salvation Army arranged for transportation and distribution of the boxes.  A Salvation Army volunteer, Vanessa, drove the truck and assisted P.E.O. members Jeanne Libby and Judy Paulis in loading them. Contact Janet Jaquess at 575-571-5192.
