The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) reminded New Mexicans that the federal Food and Drug Administration has given full approval to the Pfizer vaccine for individuals aged 16 and older. The vaccine remains on Emergency Use Authorization for individuals 12-15, the news release said.

“The FDA’s action affirms what our data and experience have already shown us: that the Pfizer vaccine is safe and extraordinarily effective at preventing COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths,” said NMDOH Deputy Secretary Dr. Laura Parajon. “If you aren’t vaccinated, please schedule your appointment at vaccineNM.org today,” Parajon said.

NMDOH also reminded New Mexicans that individuals who received a first or second shot of Pfizer or Moderna or a first-and-only shot of the J&J vaccine from Aug. 2-31 are eligible for a $100 incentive. To receive the incentive, New Mexicans must register at vaccineNM.org by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10.
