Positive COVID-19 test results at NMSU

Posted

On Thursday, Sept. 24 New Mexico State University learned that one student and one faculty member in the Music Department tested positive for COVID-19. An additional student in music has been tested and is awaiting results. The NM Department of Health was notified immediately, as is normal practice.
The following additional actions are being taken:
• All music instruction will move to an online delivery model until further notice;
• All impacted faculty, staff, students and custodians will be tested tomorrow; and
• The music building will be electrostatically disinfected at 4 a.m. tomorrow.
Contact tracing is underway to identify close contacts of affected students and employees. All NMSU community members should continue to follow the protocols outlined in the #NMSUReady plan, including wearing a face covering, maintaining social distancing of at least six feet between individuals and washing your hands often.
