Protests were not about WWII

Posted

To the editor: In his latest opinion entertainment piece [Bulletin, June 28], Baxter Black asks why Londoners protested President Trump on the 75th anniversary of D-Day, and why Britons dislike America. Mr. Black is either incredibly naive or intentionally obtuse by conflating the world’s appreciation for the good America has done with its view of the current resident of the White House.

Nobody in London was protesting America’s WWII valiant actions.

What they were protesting are the policies and personal deficiencies of Mr. Trump.

A person can hold high regard for our country while at the same time understanding that Trump and his minions are doing almost everything in their power to undermine the respect that our country has earned over the past generations.
