Franklin Mountain Packaging, LLC (FMP), located at 401 Avenida Ascencion in Santa Teresa, was approved in January to receive $776,384 in state Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) funds to provide an average wage of $18.09 an hour to 69 company trainees, the New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) said in a news release.

“FMP is a newly formed company engaged in the manufacturing of corrugated sheets and a provider of unique digital printing services for the corrugated box-making industry,” FMP said on its website, www.fmbox.com. “FMP will target sheet converting plants in the southwestern U.S. and the maquiladoras and Mexican domestic market.

FMP was one of 12 New Mexico companies to receive JTIP funds during the JTIP board’s Jan. 14 meeting, NMEDD said, and the only company in southern New Mexico to receiving funding. About $3.5 million was awarded to support 183 trainees and two interns at the companies, the news release said.

“All 12 JTIP recipients are either science/technology based or have developed innovative manufacturing,” NMEDD said.
