A widespread network of non-medical services for elder residents reached the Las Cruces metro area when El Paso-based franchise owners opened an Always Best Care location downtown.
Founded in California in 1996, Always Best Care Senior Services counts over 250 franchises in the United States and Canada in its network, per the corporate website.
Always Best Care’s El Paso franchise was founded in 2020 by Carlos Camacho Jr. and Karla Camacho, where they say they found a need to expand quickly in a region with a rapidly growing senior population.
Always Best Care provides caregivers for in-home services – from helping with errands or meals, laundry and light housekeeping to assisting with mobility problems and personal needs like bathing, toileting and more in the way of independent and assisted living services intended to blend smoothly with referrals to higher level care.
Although they are not medical providers, the caregivers — who are employees and not contractors — also assist with recovery after hospitalizations or rehabilitation, or during hospice. They also make referrals for senior living, memory care or other services as appropriate.
The El Paso franchise serves an area extending to Canutillo and Vinton, Texas, per the office’s website. In a news release, they said the Las Cruces office will reach a radius including southern Doña Ana County, the White Sands Missile Range area and Deming to the west.
Carlos Camacho told the Las Cruces Bulletin he and his spouse-and-business-partner had invested in a Las Cruces operation last October and had been laying the groundwork since then, obtaining their license to operate about two months ago. He said approximately 20 caregivers are currently working from that office.
In a news release, Always Best Care CEO Jake Brown said Las Cruces was “not just another stop on the map” for the Camachos.
“Like many cities all over North America, the (Las Cruces) area is experiencing significant growth of its senior population, increasing the need for reliable and compassionate senior services like Always Best Care provides.”
The Las Cruces office is located at the old Loretto Towne Center at 505 S. Main Street and may be reached at 575-222-9623 or online at AlwaysBestCareLasCruces.com.
