Museum of Nature and Science has junior scientist take-home kits

The Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science (MONAS) will offer a take-home “Winter Break Camp” kit in December. Kits are free but require reservation by Dec. 11. To reserve kits, call 575-522-3120 or email education@las-cruces.org. Kits are available while supplies last, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

Rube Goldberg machines are chain-reaction machines inspired by cartoonist Rube Goldberg, who drew elaborate, whimsical designs that overcomplicate simple tasks. Using the six activities provided in the kit, you will create your own unique Rube Goldberg machine. This take-home winter break camp kit is fun for the whole family and best suited for ages 11 to 17, the city said.

MONAS, 411 N. Main St. Downtown, is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and is accessible from RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 Stop 1.
