SOLSTICE SENIOR LIVING OF LAS CRUCES

Solstice Senior Living hosts back-to-school supply drive

Solstice Senior Living of Las Cruces, 151 N. Roadrunner Parkway, hosted an Aug. 25 back-to-school supply drive for the children of its employees, with a Google Chromebook as the featured raffle prize, said Solstice Director of Sales and Marketing Renee M. Segura.

“Laura and Gil Martinez donated $30 worth of school supplies and gave away their raffle ticket to one of our kitchen associate's son, Jacob Machuca Jr,” Segura said. Jacob was one of seven students in the drawing and won the Chromebook. He “was able to begin first grade at Conlee Elementary School on the right foot,” Segura said.

Solstice asked for company and individual donations of $15, and each donor could then enter one school-aged child in the raffle, she said. The Martinez’s donation allowed two Solstice employees to enter the drawing. As a result, Solstice culinary employee Jacob Machuca “was the lucky winner,” Segura said, and his son received the Google Chromebook.

Jacob Jr. “was so excited to have his very own Google Chromebook in order to attend online classes and do his schoolwork,” Segura said. “At Solstice it’s very important that we give back to others and this was a great example of us doing that.
