Posted

There will be more than 1,000 bowls for sale at the 30th annual Empty Bowls, which will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 225 W. Griggs Ave.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Be Sew Creative, 1601 E. Lohman Ave.; Boudreau Jewelers and Gallery, 2001 E. Lohman Ave.; The Potteries, 2260 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla; Color Your World, 540 N. Telshor Blvd.; New Digs Clothing, 1021 E. Amador Ave.; Save Mart, 495 N. Valley Drive; and New Mexico Spanish Kitchen, 2960 N. Main St.

The ticket includes the bowl and a soup lunch donated by more than 40 local restaurants.

A silent auction will include a dozen items donated from a local collection, said Jan Archey, who has participated in Empty Bowls since it started in 1992.

We anticipate some bidding excitement,” Archey said.

The silent auction items are pieces from widely acclaimed artists and potters, including John Gill, Tom Coleman, Steven Hill, Lisa Orr; whiskey/wine cups by Chris Gustin and Doug Casebeer, vintage pieces by Janice Cook and Rich Hepp, and bowls by Lisa Marshall and San Lorenzo artist Kate Brown, Archey said.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go to El Caldito Soup Kitchen.

The soup bowls are handmade by members of the Potter’s Guild of Las Cruces, which sponsors Empty Bowls.
