Stampede Meat expands into Georgia

Posted

Stampede Meat, Inc., which has a facility in Sunland Park that employs more than 600 people, began a partnership with DL Lee & Sons, Inc. in Alma, Georgia, in January that “will allow Stampede to expand its geographic production footprint into the Southeast,” the company said in a news release.

Stampede’s “expansion outside of the Midwest – its headquarters is in Bridgeview, Illinois – began in 2018 with the grand opening of the company’s facility in Sunland Park. In 2021, Stampede expanded its footprint by opening Stampede North in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

The facility in Bacon County, Georgia,

is 155,000 square feet, the news release said. DL Lee & Sons was founded in Bacon County in the 1930s and has served that community “with quality meat products through five generations of the Lee family,” Stampede said.

The Sunland Park facility has 142,000 square feet and an annual capacity of 100 million pounds. Stampede has about 285,000 square feet of combined production capability in the Chicago area.

“This partnership is so much more than an acquisition,” said Stampede CEO and President Brock Furlong. “Together we can expand further and proudly serve our growing network of food service and retail customers.”
