Stitched carries on Moen’s legacy

Stitched, a shop owned by the sister duo of Gena Bermudez and RoxAnne Chavez, is at 136 S. Main St., directly behind Matteo’s.

The shop carries on the legacy of John Moen, longtime owner of Trophy Country who passed away in the fall of 2021. Moen and his family had created trophies, plaques and much more for so many. He did all this while also being the only provider of letterman jackets to students in Las Cruces and the surrounding areas since the 1980s.

“In the spring of 2022, we were given the opportunity of a lifetime,” Bermudez said.  “This local sister duo and our husbands (Gerardo Bermudez and Nicholas Chavez) purchased Mr. Moen’s business assets. This exciting new venture, Stitched, will allow us to continue creating the memorable products that Trophy Country was famous for.”

Some of those things include letterman jackets (on-site or ordered), chenille patches created on site, laser engraving and embroidery services.

“We have had huge success and the letterman jackets are still very popular,” Bermudez said. “Since we opened in June we have sold many jackets, and close to 50 of those jackets were to 2023 seniors.”
