Summer concert honors Apollo 11

Saturday, July 27

The New Desert Harmony Singers (NDHS) are in final preparation for their 2019 summer concert: “Listen to The Music!” The concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 27, in Atkinson Recital Hall, 1075 N. Horseshoe St. on the NMSU campus.

"Listen to The Music!" is a wonderful collection of popular hit songs from the 1960s and 1970s, including an homage to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, said NDHS Director Don Harlow. “Many of the songs in the show were chart toppers when first released. Some of them also won or were nominated for Grammy or Academy awards.”

Once again, the show will also feature the Las Cruces Golden Divas dancers, Harlow said.

“The music alone would make a great evening, but when adding in the visual and energetic component of the Golden Divas, this will be a true musical experience the entire family can enjoy. NDHS concerts are suitable for all ages.”

Tickets are $10 and are available from any NDHS member or at the door the night of the performance. All seats are general admission.

NDHS membership is open to those who can sing in tune, do a few simple dance moves now and then, and have fun doing it, Harlow said. NDHS sings all genres of popular music. Rehearsals are 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 225 W. Griggs Ave.
