WILD COYOTEE AND THE CANDYMAN CAN

‘The Candyman Can’ joins ‘Wild Coyotee’ on Mesilla plaza

Posted

Dakota Dukes Wild Coyotee and The Candyman Can candy store are only steps apart from each other and directly across the street from La Posta de Mesilla on the plaza in Mesilla.

Owners Bob and Sandy White opened the Wild Coyotee in January 2021 and added The Candyman Can last October in the same plaza, which is entered between the Candyman, 2456 Calle de Guadalupe, and Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery, 2470 Calle de Guadalupe.

The Wild Coyotee has “a little bit of everything,” including sweatshirts, tee shirts, ball caps, raccoon-tail caps, socks and scarves; raku pottery and jewelry; children’s toys and stuffed animals; garden sculptures; candles, spoon rests, souvenir spoons, paper towel holders and coffee mugs; keyrings, magnets, sunglasses and picture frames; greeting cards, wooden bowls and wallets; and even fly swatters.

The store is pet friendly – the Whites even keeps a few treats and a water bowl on hand.

Like its neighbor, the Candyman Can, Wild Coyotee has Amish and Mennonite candy as well. It also has local honey, as well as butter, syrup and jelly.

At the Candyman, you’ll find a wide array of home-baked goods, including cookies, small pies, bread, cakes, Bundt cakes and muffins. There also is a variety of nut-filled treats and other locally made candies and pecan confections. You’ll also find nuts from New Mexico Pecan Company, hard candy, cold sodas, gourmet coffee and ice cream.

Both stores are open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. seven days a week.
