'The Standby Lear’ opens May 6 at Black Box Theatre

“The Standby Lear,” by John Lowell, will have nine performances May 6-22 at Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Main St. Downtown.

Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, 13-14 and 20-21; 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15 and 22; and 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19. 

Tickets are $15 regular admission, $12 for students and seniors over age 65 and $10 for all seats for the Thursday, May 19 performance only.

The play is directed by Ceil Herman and stars veteran actors Ed Montes and Nancy Clein Tafoya. Montes was recently in BBT’s 2021 production of “Animal Tales” and Las Cruces Community Theatre’s “Harvey.” Tafoya appeared in BBT’s recent production of “Radium Girls.”
