Theater owner elected to chair statewide board

Leadership New Mexico has announced that Las Cruces businessman Russell Allen will serve as its 2020-2021 board chair.

Alle, is president and owner of Allen Theatres, Inc.,of Las Cruces and is a graduate of the Core Class of 2008. His one-year term began July 1. He succeeds Steve Griego, president and chief executive officer of Albuquerque’s DMC Logistics.

Allen is involved in many community and professional organizations in New Mexico and beyond. He has served on the White Sands International Film Festival Board, the Association of Commerce & Industry Board, the Las Cruces Rotary Club Board, the Las Cruces Boys & Girls Club Board and the Farmington Rotary Club Board.

Allen is a member of the National Association of Theatre Owners and the International Cinema Technology Association. He also served as president of the National Association of Theatre Owners-Rocky Mountain Region from 2017-2019.

“I am deeply honored to be elected as the new board chair, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to move Leadership New Mexico’s mission forward,” Allen said. “I want to thank the Leadership New Mexico Board for its confidence in me to serve as board chair, and I especially thank Steve Griego for his leadership and service to the organization. Together with our board of directors, staff and volunteers, we are making a positive difference in New Mexico to identify current and emerging leaders, enhance their leadership skills and deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing our state.”

Leadership New Mexico is a non-profit, educational organization founded in 1995. Program graduates are encouraged to assume leadership roles in community and statewide issues and to develop networks for effective leadership.

Since Leadership New Mexico’s inception, more than 1,800 participants from 87 communities have explored the issues facing the state through Leadership New Mexico’s programs.
