Three New Mexico counties continue with no reported COVID-19 cases

Three sparsely populated New Mexico counties continue to report no cases of COVID-19 as of May 12. Hidalgo County (Lordsburg; population: about 4,200), in the state’s far southwest corner, reports 107 tests with no positive results. DeBaca County (Fort Sumner; population: about 1,800) in east central New Mexico, reports 103 cases, all negative. Mora County (Mora is the county seat; population: about 4,500) in far northeast New Mexico, reports 80 tests with no positive results.

 

Five counties (including Doña Ana) report more than 200 cases: McKinley County (Gallup): 1,628, San Juan County: 1,149, Bernalillo County: 1,111 and Sandoval County: 474. Two counties, Santa Fe County reports 112 cases and Cibola County has 89. Five counties (Chavez, Curry, Socorro, Valencia and Rio Arriba), each report 26-75 cases. The state’s remaining 18 counties report 1-25 cases each. Harding and Sierra counties each have one reported case, Catron and Lincoln counties each have two, Union County has three and Colfax and Quay counties have five each.
