With his wife, Barbara, and granddaughter, Danae Melón, looking on, Edward Lerma is sworn in as Mesilla Town Marshall. Third Judicial District Judge Conrad Perea administered the oath during a Feb. 24 ceremony at the Mesilla Community Center. Lerma has more than 45 years of experience as a law-enforcement officer, and he has served with both the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department and the Las Cruces Police Department in various patrol and administrative capacities.
