Tombaugh Gallery’s ‘Paper Work, Uniting and Celebrating Our World’ exhibit is online

The Tombaugh Gallery’s new virtual exhibition is artist Carol Wortner’s “Paper Work, Uniting and Celebrating Our World," which opened Nov. 19 on Instagram and will continue on social media for several months, the gallery said in a news release.

Wortner’s recent work is an exploration of cultures of the world through paper, the gallery said. “She has collected paper of many varieties from around the globe, and friends have brought her gifts of paper from their travels, which are treasures to her. Carol has created handmade paper from many sources, including recycled junk mail and items gathered from nature. Some of her work is collage and some are paper weavings and quilts.

“She sees the mixing and blending of cultures through these techniques, much like our multicultural community here in the Las Cruces area,” the gallery news release continued. “Beautiful traditions and artistry shine through when people create their art.”
