Trinity Documentary to show at the Fountain Theatre

The Mesilla Valley Film Society (MVFS) presents “Oppenheimer After Trinity,” a rare and intimate look at the moments leading up to and following the first atomic bomb test in the New Mexico desert, MVFS said in a news release.

The documentary will screen at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, May 7, 8 and 9, at the Fountain Theatre, 2469 Calle de Guadalupe, on the historic plaza in Mesilla.

The film’s director, Larry L. Sheffield, will be present for a discussion and a question-and-answer session at the Sunday, May 7 screening.

“The film uses declassified military documents and rare footage to provide a unique insight into a critical moment in human history,” Sheffield said, a developer and businessman who is a former Doña Ana County state legislator and member of the New Mexico State University Board of Regents.
