Trost building down

Demolition proceeds March 7

Posted

Designed by revered El Paso architect Henry Trost and built in 1929, the former Las Cruces County Club clubhouse met it's final fate Tuesday, March 7, as it was demolished by construction crews.

The Las Cruces Historic Preservation Commission and others had tried to assemble efforts to save the building, bu tin the end there was neither enough money nor a viable plan to bring the building back to life.

The  clubhouse had languished for more than a decade, left vacant after the golf course closed and the club  moved to what is now RedHawk Golf Course.
