Memorial Medical Center Urgent Care, 1950 Chebo Murillo, Anthony, NM, held a ribbon cutting on Friday, June 27.
Anthony Mayor Diana Murillo opened the ceremony with a speech about the City of Anthony’s efforts to bring the urgent care facility to the community. State Rep. Doreen Gallegos, D-Las Cruces, previous City Manager Mario Juarez-Infante and former trustee Ava Flores got $1.5 million in federal money and $1.55 million in New Mexico capital outlay to help fund the project.
Dennis Knox, Memorial Medical chief executive officer, said, “This was a long time happening.”
“This exemplifies Memorial Medical’s dedication by extending our healthcare throughout southern New Mexico,” he said.
The Director of Health and Human Services Jamie Michael congratulated the city and gave thanks to Memorial Medical for bringing the facility to Anthony.
Others in attendance were Anthony Police Chief Vanessa Ordoñez. She said she is looking forward to working with Memorial Urgent Care in the future to help when detainees or officers have medical emergencies. Currently, officers must drive 23 miles to Las Cruces to get assistance. The 3,400 sq. ft. building is in the back left quadrant of the old Dos Lagos Golf Course which the City of Anthony acquired in 2019 with funds from Gross Receipts Tax, which operates like a sales tax on goods and services. The facility has been open since early June and houses six exam rooms, lab services and an X-ray machine.
The road to the Urgent Care is recently built and hard to find on map apps. To find the facility, find the entrance to Dos Lagos Golf Course on Duffer Lane. Follow the road to the facility.
